Department of Sociology

About Department.

The UG department of Sociology is established in 1974. We offer three-year (semester pattern) degree course in Sociology. AS per SGBAU guidelines CBCS system is also Implemented by parent university from 2022 - 23. The Department have highly decorated faculty with great academic excellence. Almost 150 to 170 students are admitted in the department every year. Also the department of sociology have created separate departmental library for students. The Department inspires students to pursue P.G. course in recognised universities and also make carriers civil services. As the college belongs to the tribal area the department of sociology is of at most importance because it will certainly help students for their socio-economical development. In short the primary focus of department is to develop understanding and sociological behaviour among the students and to train them for the betterment of society.

Departmental Activities.

The Sociology Department provide various facilities to students and also arrange educational activities like educational tours to visit various tribes like Korku, Bhilala, Gound, nihal and mongya to understand their culture and lively problems. To create awareness and social responsibility in students the department conduct survey activity in anganvadi centres on malnutrition and also students distributes fruits and biscuits from department. The department organises group discussions, seminars, poster presentation and essay competition for personality development of students. The department provide counselling to high school students to bring awareness about higher education.
