National Service Scheme 

Introduction

The N.S.S. has been established by the central government to commemorate Mahatma Gandhi’s birth centenary in the year 1969. The scheme promotes Gandhian thought of rural development and self-dependence. The N.S.S. department has been actively functioning right from the inception of the college in 1975. The N.S.S. intends to inculcate the qualities of self-dependence, social sensibility, honesty and dignity of labour. The college runs all the programs and activities designed by the ministry of youth affairs and sports and the Sant Gadge baba Amravati university. The college has the N.S.S. Unit of two hundred volunteers.

Objectives

1.  To understand the community in which they work

2.    To understand themselves in relation to their community.

3.    To identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem-solving

4.    To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility

5.    To utilise their knowledge in finding practical solutions to individual and community problems

6.    To develop competence required for group-living and sharing of responsibilities

7.    To gain skills in mobilising community participation

8.    To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitudes

9.    To develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters and

10. To practise national integration and social harmony

Special Camping Activities

The Institute organises a seven-day residential special camp for volunteers. During the last five years, the Institute organised camps in the following adopted villages – Hardoli & Tingrya Gram, Tq. Dharni. Dist. Amravati Activities Carried out in such camps:
